It’s a vital part of day-to-day living, whether that’s working from home, accessing essential services or simply staying connected with family and friends. However, with the rising cost of living, many are unable to take advantage of the benefits of a reliable broadband connection.

What does our Social Tariff give you?

A fast broadband connection, with speeds of up to 30Mbps for just £20.00* per month. These speeds are enough to keep your household happily connected, for business, education or entertainment without the stress of high monthly bills.

Who is eligible?

GoFibre’s Social Tariff is available to customers nationwide, in receipt of some state benefits (see Terms and Conditions on page 2 for full details). All you need to do is provide evidence that you’re in receipt of one of the listed state benefits by providing our team with some personal information (e.g. your surname, date of birth, and National Insurance number).

GoFibre Social Tariff Terms & Conditions

1.1 What is the Social Tariff?

The Social Tariff is our low-cost broadband package for people who are in receipt of some state benefits.

1.2 What is included in the Social Tariff Plan?

As part of our Social Tariff Plan we will provide you with fibre broadband with average speeds of up to 30mbps at a cost of £20.00 each month. New GoFibre customers may be required to pay an initial £99.00 installation fee if they are not eligible for free installation.

1.3 Who can get a Social Tariff Plan?

Our Social Tariff is available to customers in all areas nationwide for anyone in receipt of one or more of these state benefits:

  • Universal Credit (all claimants)
  • Pension Credit (Guarantee Credit)
  • Income Support
  • Jobseeker’s Allowance - You need to be receiving income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance to qualify for a Social Tariff Plan. People on contribution-based only JSA are not eligible. If you receive both income and contribution-based JSA, your income-based JSA must be higher.
  • Employment and Support Allowance - You need to be receiving income-related Employment and Support Allowance to qualify for a Social Tariff Plan. People on contribution-based only ESA are not eligible. If you receive both income and contributionbased ESA, your income-based JSA must be higher.

The person in receipt of one of the above state benefits must be the GoFibre Account Holder of the Social Tariff Plan.

1.4 Are there any eligibility checks?

Yes, anyone wanting to take a Social Tariff Plan will need to pass an eligibility check, this will involve providing GoFibre with some personal information (e.g. your surname, date of birth, and National Insurance number) so we can check your eligibility for a Social Tariff Plan. We’ll process this information in accordance with GoFibre’s privacy policy, details of which can be found here: Privacy policy

1.5 What’s the contract term for a Social Tariff Plan?

Our Social Tariff Plan has a 12 month duration. However, a customer can choose to leave or swap their plan at any time. There are no cancellation or early termination charges. When a customer reaches month 11 of their Social Tariff Plan, we will contact them by email/letter to let them know that they’re nearing the end of their price guarantee under their Social Tariff Plan and inform them we will run another eligibility check on the 12 month anniversary of their Plan.

1.6 How frequently will GoFibre check that I’m eligible for a Social Tariff Plan?

We’ll run an eligibility check every 12 months. If a customer is still eligible for a Social Tariff Plan and wants their Plan to continue, we'll renew their Plan for another 12 months.

1.7 What happens if I’m no longer eligible for a Social Tariff Plan?

If a customer is no longer eligible to take our Social Tariff Plan then we’ll send them an email/letter to notify them and inform them that they'll be automatically moved onto our alternative broadband package which will be priced in accordance with our standard rates (available here: Full fibre broadband) unless they contact us to tell us they’d like their service to end.

1.8 What other terms apply to a Social Tariff Plan?

These terms and conditions apply in addition to our Residential Customers General Terms and Conditions.
