Furnished for success: Burntisland first aid charity gets new lease of life with GoFibre donation
Local charity Burntisland First Aid has been fixed up with a free furniture injection from Scottish independent broadband provider, GoFibre, as it moves to a larger premises in the centre of Burntisland.
Burntisland First Aid is a Fife-based charity which offers lifesaving training to local residents interested in safeguarding their community. The charity is made up of volunteers who provide training courses in first aid and other life saving techniques. The charity also runs an independent ambulance service, crewed by qualified volunteers, which enables them to provide comprehensive services at off-road or indoor events within a 100-mile radius of Burntisland.
Having recently moved location to the former police station in the heart of the town, the organisation needed new equipment and furnishings. To support the charity’s vital work and to mark a special charity tariff now available to eligible organisations in Fife, GoFibre has donated high quality office furniture and a flat screen television to support the charity’s efforts. The furniture is kitting out the kitchen, breakout area and the reception area in the new premises.
Burntisland First Aid has so far run one course in their new premises – on emergency paediatric first aid – and its evening class in First Aid at Work started in late October, running for eight weeks.
Through partnership support and network expansion, GoFibre has solidified its place in communities throughout Fife. There are now over 26,000 premises ready for connection to GoFibre’s network across the kingdom of Fife, from the west Fife villages and Dunfermline, to Burntisland, Aberdour and Kinghorn in central Fife, and to the north, Cupar, Tayport and Newport.
Alex MacDonald, Chairman at Burntisland First Aid, said: 'GoFibre has really made a difference to us. With their charity tariff and recent donation of furniture to our new training centre, they’ve made a massive difference in the services that we can provide. Signing up to their full fibre broadband has provided us with reliable, high-quality connections that have made running our charity far smoother.
“We’d encourage any charities in Fife and beyond to take advantage of the charity tariff that is available right now – you’ll notice the quality difference in broadband right away, and the money you save can be put to good use elsewhere.”
Sam Calvert, Chief Revenue Officer at GoFibre, said: “Fife charities like Burntisland First Aid are making such a huge difference in the community with the range of expertise they offer – their courses could literally save a life. We’re proud to help them kit out their new HQ with furnishings and through the savings that our charity tariff provides, they can reinvest in upgrading and expanding their important work.”
The charity tariff, which sees a discount on full fibre packages, is open to any eligible organisation and will allow Fife charities to utilise vital funds to support their work that would have been otherwise spent on operational costs and other expenses. Eligible charities can apply for the special tariff by contacting the GoFibre team.
Choosing GoFibre’s full fibre broadband means Fife residents and businesses can access up to 1 Gbps speeds, significantly enhancing their ability to use multiple devices without lag and quickly download large files in seconds. While the median average internet speed in the UK is 73.21Mbps, as of 2023, GoFibre’s full fibre connection provides speeds of more than double this on its entry-level package.
