Customer Case Study – Beki Dover, Director, Haddstock Festival, Haddstock

Running Haddington’s first major arts and live music festival from their own homes has got much easier for locals Beki Dover and Helen Wyllie, since the pair signed up for ultra-fast broadband with Scottish company GoFibre.
Haddstock, which launched in 2017, has grown in size and stature. Taking place 24-26 May this year the event featured renowned Scottish folk singer Karine Polwart. Around 5,000 people attended the dizzying array of music and arts events held in local venues like pubs and cafes, and the Brunton Theatre (Corn Exchange).
“It creates a real sense of occasion in the town,” said Beki. Haddstock features established bands and also showcases new musicians.
The audience is largely from Haddington but also across East Lothian. “One of our biggest aims with Haddstock was bringing great arts events to East Lothian, so people don’t have to go into cities, said Beki. The programme has a strong local feel, featuring artists such as Tim Porteous, author of East Lothian Folk Tales and has an inter-generational feel, with events aimed at all ages.
To make a major event like Haddstock happen, Beki and Helen, who both live in the market town, need top quality broadband in their homes, where they run everything from. But until they got GoFibre, slow speeds were problematic for the pair, who have children and partners working from home, all of whom also need frequent access to broadband.
“The multiple uses caused a problem, “ Beki explained. “With my previous set-up, even when paying for super-speed, there were often problems and we were always saying things like ‘If I’m on Teams can you stay off the ipad?” If I needed to look at music videos for instance, it was really difficult.”
“Since we got GoFibre, we’re able to use multiple devices with no problem. It’s not a consultation with who’s on what. From my point of view as Director of the festival, I can take that video call at any time now. We’re producing the festival ourselves and now can be quick, we can be efficient, we can deliver what we need to. It really helps with your workload.”
“I never need to think about my broadband since we got GoFibre, and that’s a compliment, because it just works.”
Beki went on, “We have been impressed with GoFibre, the sales team, the customer service, the installers, everyone. I’m so glad I asked Raymond, who came to the door, to tell me more about GoFibre. The price was brilliant, the customer service was great, and when the installers came, they were brilliant, really pleasant, cleaned up after themselves, were super quick. We were really, really pleased.”
