Optical Network Terminal (ONT)

An optical network terminal (ONT) is a device that helps bring fibre-optic internet into your home. The fibre-optic cable carries super-fast internet signals as light, and the ONT converts those light signals into regular internet signals that your router can use. It was installed by one of our friendly GoFibre team when your GoFibre broadband was installed.

Here’s how it works:

  • Fibre-optic cable brings fast internet to your home.
  • ONT changes the light signals into internet data.
  • Router then takes that data and gives you Wi-Fi to use on your devices.

So, the ONT is what makes it possible for you to use your GoFibre Full Fibre broadband inside your home.

This is what your ONT will look like.
