GoFibre named as one of the fifty fastest growing firms in Scotland

The Scoop | 03/11/2025

GoFibre has been recognised as one of the fifty fastest-growing businesses in Scotland by the UK Fast Growth Index for 2025, the programme which identifies the fastest-growing companies in the UK.
This achievement underlines GoFibre's significant impact on its market and its capacity for growth and innovation. Whilst fast growth firms represent a small fraction of all companies, they contribute to a significant proportion of new jobs and prosperity in the UK economy every year. They are also often at the cutting edge in their respective industries, bringing innovative products, services, and processes to the market and, as a result, making a tremendous contribution to their sector.
All the firms on the list have also been entered for the 2025 UK Fast Growth Awards being held in London on November 26th where the winners will be recognised as the fastest growing in their sectors and their regions.

About the UK Fast Growth Index

The UK Fast Growth Index identifies the fifty fastest-growing companies in seven regions and nations namely London, the Midlands and the East of England, the North of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, South of England and Wales. Last year, the 350 firms identified through the lists had a collective turnover increase of £9.6 billion between 2021 and 2023 and created 24,000 new jobs in two years.

Professor Dylan Jones-Evans OBE, Founder UK Fast Growth Index said:

“The UK Fast Growth Index demonstrates how a small number of fast-growing firms such as GoFibre can make a substantial contribution to the UK’s economic landscape, providing real examples of how innovation, enterprise and sheer hard work can make a real difference in all sectors from construction to financial services to technology.

This small group of businesses that grow quickly continue to play a significant role in driving economic growth. They create jobs and contribute to the economic development of the communities in which they are based. By highlighting the success of these companies across a range of sectors, the UK Fast Growth Index emphasises the importance of supporting and nurturing the private sector in every nation and region of the UK”.

Neil Conaghan, CEO, GoFibre, said:

'Being named among Scotland’s fastest-growing companies is an incredible honour and achievement for GoFibre,' says Neil Conaghan Chief Executive of GoFibre. 'As a company we’ve demonstrated strong commercial success, not just in the context of the independent broadband provider sector, but as a Scottish company generally.  Our growth has been built on our ambitious, people-friendly culture - adding customers while retaining our hyper-local, customer-centred approach, demonstrated for instance by our industry-leading Trustpilot score. I’m so proud of all that GoFibre has achieved since our founding in the Borders in 2017 and look forward to continued growth while retaining what makes GoFibre unique.'

GoFibre was founded in the Scottish Borders in 2017 and is headquartered in Edinburgh, with a network of over 123,000 premises ready-to-connect.  The company has had a successful year, attracting significant investment from major funders including the Scottish National Investment Bank, and winning two Project Gigabit contracts in Scotland, the first in The Scottish Borders/East Lothian, and the second in north east Scotland. It has also become the first company in the UK to complete a Project Gigabit contract, in North Northumberland.

In 2025 the firm has also been named High Growth Business of the Year at the Scottish Borders Business Excellence Awards, and Scottish Broadband Provider of the Year by Broadband Genie.
